Keeping Up With The Jones'

I don't have a competitive bone in my body, but I still feel a pang of sympathy for this guy's neigbours and whatever sad troupe of dancing lawn ornaments they've managed to scrounge from Wal-Mart.

It Is After All

I was downtown having a beer waiting for the band (The Jazz Collective) to set up when the saxophonist walked by wearing what I could swear was a Guam seal around his neck. It was- turns out his dad was in the Army and ended up retiring here, this dude, Joel, has been living, schooling, and being a general bad-ass motherfucking sax player in the SCRA area.

Small world.

The Laws Of The Land

Being from Guam I'd always been under the impression that "Yield" meant something like "give right of way to oncoming or merging traffic." Apparently in Georgia it means "nearly run down the motorcyclist in front of you, honk your horn, and then as you speed past him, honk your horn and register your displeasure by flipping him the bird."

Guess I better get with it.

السنافر

Well I'm back in a language class for a month, not too much to say about that other than we wrapped the day up watching The Smurfs in Arabic. I'll expound a bit-

Smurfs- سنافر (sanafir)
A Smurf- سنفور (sanfoor)
Smurfette- سنفورة (sanfoora)

Your tax-dollars at work.

Thanks Toni.
